    Description

SCREEN #1 of 2 (see separate listing). This is a FABULOUS find! Very French Deco/Jean Michel Frank style folding screen of EXCEPTIONAL quality. I put “SHAGREEN” in quotes as I can’t independently verify if it’s a beautifully done faux shagreen (Barbara Barry’s faux shagreen screen is selling for 00 elsewhere) or if I hit the motherlode and scored real shagreen (stingray) in a piece this size.
This piece is finished on both sides and is so thick and heavy that it can stand sturdily stretched nearly flat to its full width.
Measures approx 46” high by 72” wide. I’m guessing the weight to be upwards of 45 lbs.
Condition (overall very good) is commensurate with age and use. Typical signs of wear, the ivory leather framing could use a spot cleaning. Check the pics.
** PLEASE NOTE: The last pic shows this screen photographed with Screen #2 (listed separately).
The screen is a great way to define a space or to act as a room divider or backdrop for a lovely antique or sculpture. It definitely will work in both traditional and contemporary settings. It looks great with rosewood and macassar ebony pieces and makes a great backdrop for your Lalique or Puiforcat...as well as with American streamline moderne furniture by Wolfgang Hoffmann, Donald Deskey, and KEM Weber. (Also present day brands/ designers such as J Robert Scott, Peter Marino, Kelly Wearstler and Holly Hunt).
Please note: Ask all questions prior to purchase as I do not accept returns. Payment via PayPal is required within 72 hours of purchase, or I reserve the right to re-list the item. As far as arranging pickup dates & times, we are quite flexible as far as scheduling. And can possibly point you toward a few local or nationwide delivery options we’ve used in the past (though that is the buyer’s responsibility and we can’t be liable for any decision you the buyer might make in this regard).
Finally, be certain to check my other auctions as I am listing quite a few Art Deco and streamline moderne treasures during the month!!
