Description
HOT ITEM!! QUICK SELLER WHEN I CAN FIND ONE!!This is USGS Bulletin 936-A,
Muscovite in the Spruce Pine District, North Carolina
. This volume is 38 pages and has the original map showing the
locations of 375 mines
in the Spruce Pine area, and also a large table showing production of mica from some of the mines, all in excellent condition. This publication discusses the geology of the deposits and is also especially rich in technical information about the mica types and the important physical properties of the mica. A very interesting overview of this nationally important mica-producing area, published in 1942 during critical years of mica mining.
Notice in the close up of the back of the map, there is a huge list of the mines and prospects, by name. Shown on the map are also locations for
gem beryl and kyanite!
A rare and desirable publication, this would make a great companion to the other publication I am selling right now, Mica Deposits of the Blue Ridge in North Carolina. Much of the terminology used in other publications on mica deposits is very clearly explained here.
