    Description

    ONLY ONE I HAVE!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 955-F,
Quicksilver Deposits of the Bonanza-Nonpareil District, Douglas County, Oregon.
Published in 1951, it consists of a 29-page book AND ALL TEN OF THE ORIGINAL MAPS, one of which is a two-color map in red and green. This scarce report details this productive mercury mining district. Minerals from this area include:
    Cinnabar
    Native mercury
    Metacinnabar
    Calomel
    Realgar
    Orpiment
    Melanterite
    Calcite
    Siderite
    Marcasite
    Mines in the area include:
    Bonanza mine
    Nonpareil mine
(which is divided n to the north and south mines)
    Butte prospects
    Sutherland prospects
The maps show underground workings and surface geology in the area, and the text does a good job tying it all together. This would make a great guide to this historic area, where the first discoveries were made in the mid-1800s. Note that one of the maps actually is printed in red and green - It is
    not
    a poor photo!
